Victoria Vuong-Medeiros started LV Chinese Dance Academy in November 2021 after the retirement of her Chinese Folk Dance teacher of more than 20 years, Shirley Chen, who was the Artistic Director of former Chinese Folk Dance group Shirley Chen & Dancers.
The goal of LV Chinese Dance Academy is to continue to provide the Las Vegas Valley with traditional and Chinese-inspired dance training and performances.
Ms. Victoria fell in love with dance when she took her first Creative Movement class in her home state of New Jersey. She moved to Las Vegas at the age of five where she continued dancing at Nevada Ballet Theatre until the age of nine when her parents enrolled her in Shirley Chen & Dancers, a Chinese Folk Dance troupe where she learned as much as she could about Chinese dance. She has won Gold and Platinum awards from American Chinese Dance Association’s (ACDA) annual competitions. She has also earned certification to teach Chinese Folk Dance Levels 1-6 through Pan America Chinese Dance Alliance’s (PACDA) teacher training program.
She is also a classically trained ballet dancer. Her formal training began in 2012 under the guidance of Ms. Ella Gourkova and Mr. Sergey Popov at Nevada School of Dance where she performed numerous soloist roles in their productions of The Nutcracker and their annual showcase.
Ms. Victoria enjoys working with children of all ages. Outside of LVCDA, she taught French, Mythology & Folklore, and Intro to World Languages for grades 7-12 at Amplus Academy- Durango Campus up until the birth of her special-needs son in 2024. She is excited to have the opportunity to work with your children at LVCDA!
